BORAGE OIL
BORAGE OIL
Borage oil is extracted from borage seeds and is rich in linoleic acid (Omega 6) with 36% in its composition, it also contains 22% of linoleic acid (Omega 3), 19% of oleic acid (Omega 9) and 10% of palmitic acid and numerous polyunsaturated fatty acids and enzymes that allow it to be a powerful cellular regenerator.
Its richness in gamma-linoleic acid (GLA) offers great anti-inflammatory properties whether it is applied to the skin or consumed orally. Borage oil is a product that should be part of any natural medicine cabinet.
SOME BENEFITS OF BORAGE OIL
Due to the numerous properties it possesses, it has become an indispensable supplement, since it is, for example, one of the foods with the highest linoleic acid content that we know of.
Against cardiovascular problems
Linoleic acid and linoleic has proven to be interesting for cardiovascular problems such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, etc.. It is able to significantly reduce bad cholesterol, blood pressure or triglyceride levels. It improves blood circulation and reduces stress levels.
Borage oil as an anti-inflammatory
Borage oil is high in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a strong anti-inflammatory present in some vegetable oils. Its high content of omega 3 and 6 helps control the body’s inflammatory responses. This is why the oil extracted from borage seeds is used to combat the symptoms of inflammatory and age-related disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer’s disease.
This oil contains omega-6 fatty acid and falls into the category of fatty acids that we call essential. This acid and linolenic acid will later be converted into dihomo and linolenic acid capable of promoting the synthesis of anti-inflammatory compounds. In parallel, dihomo-linolenic acid reduces the synthesis of pro-inflammatory metabolites. Thanks to these two mechanisms of action, borage oil can effectively combat inflammation.
In addition, borage oil is especially recommended for women as it contains properties that help soothe premenstrual and menopausal symptoms, as well as breast tenderness.
Borage oil against menstrual problems
It is rich in linoleic acid, a precursor of type 1 prostaglandins, substances with anti-inflammatory properties that seem to reduce menstrual pain. In addition, these prostaglandins act on the entire hormonal system. For this reason, it can be used during the menstrual cycle to regulate pain, mood swings and even migraines.
